Join LEAN Energy US, the City of Cambridge, MA, Peregrine Energy Group, MIT, and Apex Wind for a webinar on how Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) programs can leverage Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs) to drive new large-scale renewable energy development.

The session will highlight Cambridge’s 1.3 million MWh of annual new solar and wind generation through the Consortium for Climate Solutions, including Harvard, MIT, Mass General Brigham, and PowerOptions. Tied to the Prairie Solar project in Illinois and the Bowman Wind project in North Dakota, these are the largest VPPAs executed by a U.S. city to date. The agreement enables Cambridge to advance its climate goals, expand clean energy procurement, and support its community electricity program.

Speakers from Cambridge, project developers, and clean energy procurement experts will share how the VPPA was structured, the benefits of consortium procurement, and lessons for other municipalities. The discussion will also explore the opportunities and challenges of using VPPAs to achieve additionality, scale renewable energy, and broaden municipal access to large clean energy projects.
