Innovations Headline the National CCA Summit!
LEAN’s 2013 conference theme, “Opening Markets, Driving Innovation” was on full display during the National CCA Summit in Chicago!
Attendees from across the country came together in November for two-and-a-half days of information-sharing, problem solving, and networking, networking, networking! Participants commented that they learned as much from what’s different about CCA in various regions as they did about what’s similar, and new business relationships flourished in an environment of dialogue, best-practices, and fun.
We’d like to give a special shout out to Mayor Rahm Emanuel who joined us to receive the City’s CCA Leadership Award and to announce a new clean energy contract for the city’s municipal facilities. His remarks about how municipal aggregation fits into Chicago’s long-term sustainability strategy were spot on.
We were also pleased to welcome Alice Madden from the US Department of Energy, IL Commerce Commission Chair Doug Scott, and Ron Binz, former Chairman of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission who opened the Summit with the latest on national energy policy and market trends. Chris Shelton, President of AES Energy Storage, Inc. wrapped us up with an interesting discussion on the emerging influence of energy storage and how it and other smart grid and clean tech technologies intersect with local aggregation programs.
